Perhaps you’re moving for work, to be near a particular school, or to be closer to family…..whatever your reason, Cambridge is consistently voted one of the best places to live and work in the UK so you’re about to make a great decision! Outlined below are some of the reasons we love Cambridge.

Transport. There are two railway stations locally, Cambridge North and Cambridge, with frequent direct trains to London Kings Cross in less than an hour. Further routes include Kings Lynn, Ely, Norwich, Birmingham and Stansted Airport. There are also a number of bus services covering the City and, for drivers, the M11 and A14 are on the doorstep. Cambridge is also home to the most cyclists of any UK city, with connections to the National Cycle Network.

Green Space. There are many parks and open areas in Cambridge and the surrounding area, from the beautifully landscaped University gardens to local country parks and everything in between, you will be spoilt for choice for outdoor space. The University Botanical Gardens are stunning all year round and well worth a visit.

Education. Cambridge University aside, the city is also home to many highly regarded primary and secondary schools, including The Leys and The Perse. There are numerous Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ state schools too, such as Chesterton Community College and Parkside Community College. For the youngest family members, there is also an excellent choice of certified nurseries specialising in early years education.

Amenities. With famous historic buildings, theatres, a diverse range of retail opportunities, cafes, restaurants and cosy pubs, Cambridge has it all. There are gyms, rowing clubs, cycle routes and more. For those who prefer indoor activities, why not try indoor climbing or an escape room, or a wander around the amazing Fitzwilliam Museum? You really can take your pick!
